Vietjet comes to
people in typhoon-stricken and flooded areas
(Vietjet, HoChiMinh City, Sept 12, 2024) - Vietjet officials and employees
were present in flood-affected areas to directly distribute essential items to
residents, contributing to helping them overcome difficulties.
Following
the launch of a support program for those affected by the floods, on September
12, the Vietjet delegation headed to villages in Ham Yen district (Tuyen Quang
province) in collaboration with the local Farmers' Union to visit and provide
assistance to households.
Ham Yen
is one of the severely affected districts with hundreds of houses flooded, over
1,500 homes isolated, nearly 1,000 hectares of flowers submerged, and swept
away by the floods. The estimated total damage in the district amounts to VND36
billion (approx. US$ 1,565 million).
After
being isolated and submerged in water for several days, the people of Ham Yen
have begun cleaning up their homes, repairing damages to return to normal life.
The district has mobilized officials, soldiers, and established volunteer teams
to support each household in repairing their homes. Relief supplies are being received
and distributed to families.
Expressing
gratitude towards the Vietjet team, a resident mentioned that the timely
assistance from Vietjet and various organizations nationwide has helped the
people stabilize their lives.
Ms. Le
Phan Thanh Ha, a Vietjet employee, shared: "Witnessing the losses that the
people have endured is extremely heartbreaking. Many families have lost all
their belongings to the floods, and some have lost loved ones. They are
worried, unsure how to overcome these losses. With the solidarity spirit, I
hope that Vietjet's assistance will help them rebuild their lives."
In
addition to visiting and gifting the residents, Vietjet has swiftly transported
multiple tons of relief supplies donated by people nationwide to the affected
areas.
Within
just 2 days of announcing the acceptance and free transportation of relief
goods for flood-affected communities, Vietjet has transported over 5 tons of
supplies from various regions to the northern region. Many more tons of goods
are also scheduled for transportation in the next time.
Mr. Tran
Quang Hoa, Vice President of Vietjet Cargo, stated that the hotline for
receiving relief goods at Vietjet has been constantly ringing with numerous
requests for cargo transportation, primarily essential items like food and
medicines.
"Understanding
the hearts of people nationwide towards flood-affected communities, Vietjet
prioritizes getting the goods on flights as soon as possible. Within just 2
days, Vietjet successfully transported over 5 tons of gathered supplies to the
northern region for charitable organizations to receive and distribute to
provinces," Mr. Hoa said.
On social
media, many accounts have shared images of the relief shipments transported by
Vietjet free of charge. The account Duong Nguyen from the charity group "Warmth"
mentioned that, with the support from many individuals, the group purchased
3,000 bags of fresh porridge, swiftly transported for free by Vietjet, coming
to children in the highland regions in the North.
Mr. Vu
Quang Xuyen, Vietjet Cargo team leader
at Tan Son Nhat Airport, feels honored to contribute his efforts in
receiving relief goods, supporting the community, and takes pride in Vietjet's
free transportation of relief goods during this period.
Together
with fellow countrymen, many trips, gifts, essential items, and the community
spirit of Vietjet employees will continue to reach the people in the affected
provinces in the coming days.
