Vietjet tops out international-standard
hangar, operates first flight to Long Thanh International Airport
(Vietjet,
Long Thanh, December 19, 2025) – Vietjet today marked two major milestones at Long Thanh
International Airport with the topping-out ceremony of its international-standard
aircraft maintenance hangar project and the operation of its first flight to
the new airport, reaffirming a strategic step forward in the airline’s
investment in modern and sustainable aviation technical infrastructure.
Vietjet’s aircraft maintenance hangar project, commenced on
August 19, 2025, is part of the Long Thanh Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering
Center, with a total investment of up to USD 100 million and covering an area
of 8.4 hectares. Hangars No. 3 and No. 4 are designed, managed and supervised
by international firms Mace (United Kingdom) and Apave (France), featuring
large-span steel space structures that meet the stringent technical standards
of the global aviation industry. Once operational, the hangar complex will be
capable of simultaneously accommodating and maintaining 6 narrow-body aircraft
and 2 wide-body aircraft, or up to 10 narrow-body aircraft.
In just 4 months, the project completed its topping-out
ceremony on schedule under challenging construction conditions, affirming
Vietjet's ability to implement projects quickly, with discipline and high
determination, along with its international partners. The project plays a
crucial role in enhancing domestic technical capabilities, reducing overseas
maintenance costs, increasing fleet operational efficiency, and creating more
jobs and economic value for the Southern region of Vietnam.
In parallel with infrastructure development, Vietjet
successfully operated its first flight to Long Thanh International Airport, a
significant event attended by Standing Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh,
along with leaders of ministries, sectors and relevant authorities. Flight
VJ038, operated by an Airbus A321neo adorned with the Vietnamese national flag,
departed Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 07:35 and landed at Long Thanh
airport at 08:30 on the same day. Thorough preparation, modern equipment and a
highly professional flight crew ensured a safe, comfortable and well-executed
flight.
With its new, modern fleet and extensive domestic and
international flight network, Vietjet continues to affirm its long-term vision,
commitment to sustainable investment, and pioneering role as a private
enterprise in developing aviation infrastructure, contributing to the country's
growth and integration.
