Vietjet to announce the business performance in May: The carrier received 3 new aircraft and launched new international routes

(Vietjet, HCMC, June 28th, 2017) – In May, Vietjet received three new aircraft to contribute to build a new generation and modern aircraft fleet. Vietjet launched new international routes and increased frequencies of international flights to meet the increasing travel demand of domestic passengers in high season.

In May, Vietjet launched Da Nang – Seoul route; opened sales campaign for the route between Hanoi and Yangon (Myanmar), which is expected to operate as of August 31st, 2017. Besides, Vietjet also increased frequencies of international routes to 11 return flights/ week from July 21st, 2017 and 14 return flights/ week from August 2nd, 2017 for Hanoi – Taipei (Taiwan) route and Hanoi – Seoul (Korea) route respectively.
A long with launching a series of new routes, Vietjet remained its high load factor, over than 88%. In the first 5 months of 2017, Vietjet operated nearly 39,100 safe flights, had transported more than 6.5 million passengers, an increase of 29% as compared to same period of 2016. In May, it carried over 1.5 million passengers.
Up to the end of May, Vietjet had its own online ticket distribution channel and consumer sẻvices which stood at 21,378 sales points, an increase by 2,803 points compared to that by December 31st, 2016.
With this result, the revenue from airline operation of Vietjet in May approximately stood at VND 8,352 billion, an increase of 44% compared to the same period of the preceding year and exceeded budgeted forecast by 9%.
At the visit of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the US in late May, Vietjet signed agreements with CFM International, GECAS and Honeywell Aviation, as witnessed by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur L. Ross, Jr. Those agreements were worth USD 4.7 billion.
Later, in Tokyo, Japan, Vietjet and Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance (MUL), a member a member of Japan’s leading finance group Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), signed a strategic agreement which would pave the way for MUL to finance Vietjet’s acquisition of three brand new A321 aircraft, worth US$348 million.
